3 Reasons Why Texas QB Arch Manning Could Have All-SEC Season

Texas QB Arch Manning is primed for an All-SEC season with enhanced offensive support, including improved running backs and receivers.

Arch Manning’s All-SEC Potential

As the Texas Longhorns prepare for the 2026 season, all eyes are on quarterback Arch Manning, the highly-touted recruit who is finally poised to showcase his skills as a starter after waiting behind Quinn Ewers. Entering his fourth year in college football and second as Texas's leading quarterback, Manning has the potential not only to elevate his game but also to contend for All-SEC honors as the Longhorns aim for a prominent spot in the conference.

Improved Run Game Will Balance the Offense

One of the critical factors for the Longhorns' offensive success this upcoming season is the revitalization of their run game. Head coach Steve Sarkisian openly acknowledged that restoring the dynamic running capabilities that characterized early years in his tenure is paramount.

“The ability to make a guy miss in tight quarters in the open field is something we had the luxury of the first few years here,” Sarkisian stated.

Manning, who ranked second in rushing for Texas last season with 399 yards, returns as a dual-threat quarterback, which will keep defenses on their toes. Additionally, Texas fans can expect explosive performances from the newly paired running back duo of Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers, both coming off impressive 900-yard seasons. Their skills as tackle-breakers will not only enhance the run game but also create space for Manning to thrive in the passing attack.

Multiple WR1s Boost Passing Attack

The Longhorns’ receiving corps may have experienced some turnover with the loss of key players like DeAndre Moore Jr. and Parker Livingstone. However, they still boast the potential of multiple receivers capable of performing at a WR1 level.

Sophomore Ryan Wingo had a breakout year in 2025, recording 54 receptions for 834 yards and 7 touchdowns. Adding to this depth is Cam Coleman, a standout receiver who transferred from Auburn after recording 93 catches for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons. Coleman’s speed and athleticism make him a formidable addition alongside Wingo, providing Manning with exceptional targets that few teams can match.

With Emmett Mosley V likely shifting to the slot position and an improved offensive line, Manning is in a strong position to leverage his weapons effectively this season.

Contending for an SEC Title

While individual accolades such as All-SEC nominations are often tied to team success, the reality is that winning games plays a vital role in recognition. Last year, four quarterbacks who garnered All-SEC honors also led their teams to six or more SEC victories.

Texas concluded the 2025 season with a strong 9-3 record despite setbacks against powerhouse programs like Ohio State, Florida, and Georgia. Manning’s ability to end the year strong, combined with an upward trajectory for the Longhorns this season, places him in a prime position to claim some of those honors.

The Longhorns are once again projected to be contenders for the SEC title, and with Manning at the helm, the hopes of a successful campaign are bolstered significantly. The 2026 season not only represents a chance to redeem earlier setbacks but also an opportunity for Manning to make a name for himself as he seeks to enter the conversation for the 2027 NFL Draft.
