2026 NFL Draft Rumors: Cardinals Eye Jeremiyah Love Amid Shifting Dynamics

The Cardinals might draft Jeremiyah Love at No. 3 while the Giants target offense, and Ty Simpson's first-round hopes dim amid uncertainty.

2026 NFL Draft Buzz Surrounds Jeremiyah Love and Ty Simpson

As the NFL Draft approaches, the Arizona Cardinals are contemplating selecting Jeremiyah Love, a standout running back from Notre Dame, with the third overall pick. If trade negotiations do not progress, Love's blend of versatility and playmaking ability makes him a sought-after asset in this year's draft, which is expected to create significant ripple effects within the top 10 selections.

Cardinals Consider Love at No. 3

Should the Cardinals decide to stay put at No. 3, Love is emerging as a compelling choice due to his dual-threat capability. Loved for being a multi-dimensional player, he offers not just rushing prowess but also the ability to impact the passing game significantly. With 1,372 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns last season, he has proven to be an exceptional talent, drawing comparisons to previous top-five picks like Saquon Barkley.

Love himself expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, "I'm a complete player. I'm a team player. So, whatever team drafts me is gonna get the best version of me, and I'm gonna put in the work every single day."

His agility allows him to navigate defenses effectively, making him an ideal fit for the Cardinals' aggressive offensive strategy under new head coach Mike LaFleur. If not selected by Arizona, he is not expected to fall past the Washington Commanders at No. 7.

Giants Strategize with Two Top-10 Picks

On the other hand, the New York Giants are positioned uniquely in the draft with two picks within the top 10, a scenario that gives them flexibility under first-year coach John Harbaugh. This presents an opportunity for the Giants to combine best-player-available strategies while filling immediate needs.

Draft analysts anticipate that with their No. 5 pick, the Giants might opt for Francis Mauigoa, an offensive tackle from Miami, followed by targeting a wide receiver, such as Jordyn Tyson, with the No. 10 selection. After a promising workout, Tyson has gained attention, especially given the concerns surrounding receiver Malik Nabers. Additionally, Olaivavega Ioane, recognized as the top interior offensive lineman, could also be on New York's radar.

Ty Simpson’s Declining Status

Conversely, Ty Simpson, another key prospect viewed as a potential first-round quarterback, is facing a dip in his draft stock, primarily because of a recent trade involving the Los Angeles Rams. After acquiring cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, there’s speculation that Simpson may now fall into the second round. This unexpected shift puts pressure on teams like the New York Jets, who could consider drafting him with the No. 16 pick.

Simpson had turned down a record-setting $6.5 million transfer offer to stay in the draft, and projections now indicate that to align with that valuation, he must be drafted within the top 35 picks. This uncertainty adds to the intrigue surrounding his placement as teams continue to weigh their options leading into the draft.

With the draft just around the corner, the dynamics surrounding teams and key players like Jeremiyah Love and Ty Simpson make for an exciting and unpredictable selection process ahead.
