Aaron Judge Still Not Cleared for Baseball Activities Amid Injury Recovery

Yankees' Aaron Judge reports progress in rib injury recovery but remains sidelined.

Aaron Judge's Injury Update

Yankees superstar Aaron Judge, who has been sidelined since May 31 due to a stress fracture in his rib cage, provided reporters with an update on his recovery status during a press conference at Yankee Stadium on Friday afternoon. The three-time American League MVP shared that while he has experienced some healing from his injury, he has not yet been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Recovery Progress and Optimism

Judge reported feeling a degree of improvement, stating that he has noticed "some healing going on, but not fully healed." The organization initially indicated they would re-evaluate Judge's condition after four to six weeks, which has now passed. To further assess the situation, Judge plans to undergo additional medical imaging in the coming weeks.

"We're still waiting on one more doctor to take a look at it, kind of see how we progress forward over the next couple weeks. But definitely a positive sign that we're seeing some healing," Judge explained. Despite his prolonged recovery, he expressed confidence in his return this season, saying, "I don't see why I wouldn't."

Impact on the Yankees' Performance

The absence of Judge has significantly affected the Yankees' performance. Currently, the team holds a record of 36-23 when he plays, contrasted with a 18-19 record when he does not. The team recently endured a troubling stretch, losing 14 of 18 games, before managing to secure a four-game winning streak to close out the first half of the season. While the Yankees have shown resilience without their star player, making a serious push for the World Series will be challenging without his presence in the lineup.

Judge, now 34, has undeniably been a pivotal player for the Yankees. He was one of the leading hitters in baseball throughout 2022 and has won the AL MVP title in each of the last three full seasons. As fans await his return, the team’s hopes for a deep playoff run hinge on a healthy Judge returning to the field soon.
