As the 2026 college football season approaches, certain teams are set to take advantage of light travel schedules, which could greatly benefit their early-season performance. Among these teams are Michigan, TCU, Texas, UTSA, and West Virginia, all of which will enjoy favorable conditions that allow for more games played at home.

Michigan’s Strong Home Advantage

Michigan Wolverines begin the season on a promising note with six of their first seven games scheduled at home, known as the Big House. This setup is beneficial for head coach Kyle Whittingham, who starts his tenure with a home-heavy schedule. The Wolverines are set to play their September games in front of their home crowd, dishing out $3.4 million in guarantees to host UTEP and Western Michigan. The Texas Longhorns have a minimal travel schedule, leaving the state only three times in 2026. Their significant matchups include seven visitors at home, with the standout clash against Ohio State on September 12. Texas will only travel beyond state borders for a game against Tennessee on September 26.
