WordPress has strongly advised all users to update their software immediately. According to their analysis, the vulnerable versions range from 6.9.0 to 7.0.1, affecting a significant number of the 400 million websites known to use WordPress. Cybersecurity consultant Daniel Card estimates that about 15% of a sample of 4,200 websites remain unpatched, suggesting that potentially up to 90 million sites could be vulnerable to attack.

Cloudflare has begun blocking attacks aimed at vulnerable websites, while various sites have implemented web firewalls to provide additional security.
