Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a decision to reconstitute the Board of Directors of the Emirates Health Services Corporation, chaired by His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh.

The Board includes His Excellency Dr Yousef Mohammed Ali Al Serkal, Director General of the Emirates Health Services Corporation, serving as Vice Chairman and Managing Director. Other members are Sheikh Maktoum Butti Suhail Butti Al Maktoum, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office in Dubai; Dr Aisha Mohammed Abdullah Yassin, Board Member of Ras Al Khaimah University of Medicine and Health Sciences; Abdul Wahab Al Halabi, Board Member of Burjeel Holdings; Mohammed Omar Karim, Chief Investment Officer of Dubai Holding Group; and Nitin Khanna Kumar Khanna.

The Emirates Health Services Corporation, a federal entity affiliated with the UAE Cabinet, is responsible for enhancing the efficiency of the federal healthcare sector and providing healthcare, treatment and preventive services.

Its mandate includes proposing and monitoring the implementation of policies, strategies and standards related to healthcare, public health and preventive services, as well as establishing and managing federal hospitals, health centres and medical facilities.

The Corporation also focuses on developing national healthcare talent, attracting specialised expertise, and adopting advanced medical practices, digital solutions and artificial intelligence in line with global standards. It is also tasked with qualifying federal healthcare institutions as accredited educational centres and supporting medical research to advance the sector.

The Board of Directors is responsible for proposing the Corporation’s general policy and overseeing its implementation following approval by the Cabinet. It also approves regulations, systems and work plans, and issues policies and standards governing the Corporation and its affiliated facilities.

In addition, the Board contributes to the development of a unified national health insurance system in coordination with relevant authorities, in line with best international practices.
