Opera Software has officially announced the rollout of its Browser Connector feature, aimed at enhancing the user experience for its browsers, Opera One and Opera GX. This ambitious feature enables users to seamlessly integrate various AI chatbots, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude, into their web browsing activities, fostering an interactive and personalized online experience.

What is the Browser Connector?

The Browser Connector utilizes the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard designed to facilitate secure, two-way interactions between AI models and external data sources. This innovative approach allows AI chatbots to deliver real-time context tailored to users’ browsing activities, making it easier to access information and insights. The feature has been made available in Opera's Early Bird mode, and users can enable it through the browser settings.

How to Enable the Feature

To activate the Browser Connector, users need to navigate to the Settings of their browser and perform a search for "AI Services". Once found, they can install the feature and connect their preferred AI chatbot, either ChatGPT or Claude, to begin utilizing its capabilities during browsing sessions. This integration means that users are no longer confined to a single company's ecosystem but can select the best tools according to their needs.
