Real Madrid Achieves Record Revenue of $1.39 Billion

Real Madrid's revenue reaches a record $1.39 billion, driven by stadium and sponsorship income rather than performance-related earnings.

Record-Breaking Revenue for Real Madrid

Real Madrid has announced a remarkable revenue of €1.221 billion ($1.39 billion) for the 2025-26 financial year, marking a significant milestone as the first sports entity ever to exceed €1.2 billion in operating revenue. This figure represents a 3.1% increase over the previous fiscal year and highlights the club's exceptional financial management and growth, particularly in non-performance-related income streams.

Financial Highlights

The financial results were approved by the club's board on July 28. Key figures from the financial statement include:

  • Net Profit after Tax: €26.3 million ($30 million), reflecting an 8% increase.
  • EBITDA: €287.4 million ($327.6 million), a robust growth of 18%.
  • Personnel Cost Ratio: The club's commitment to financial discipline is evident with personnel costs accounting for only 46% of revenue.

Most of Real Madrid's growth has been driven by revenues from stadium enhancements and sponsorships rather than from match performances or broadcasting rights, showcasing a strategic pivot in their revenue streams.

Growth Through Sponsorships and Stadium Revenue

Since the 2018/19 season, Real Madrid has seen a 61% rise in revenue, escalating from €757 million ($863 million) to the current €1.221 billion ($1.39 billion). Notably, 93% of this increase is attributed to income controlled directly by the club rather than results on the field.

  • Stadium Revenue: The ongoing renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has paid dividends, boosting income by 107% to €363 million ($413.8 million).
  • Marketing and Sponsorships: This segment surged by 82% to €539 million ($614.5 million).

In contrast, revenue linked to television and international competitions, which is closely tied to the team's performance, only grew by 11% during the same period to €319 million ($363.7 million).

Resilience in Uncertain Markets

Despite fluctuations within the sports market, Real Madrid has demonstrated remarkable stability. The club's revenue trajectory remains strong compared to other European teams, particularly in a season where clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United have shown stagnant or minimal growth in their financial standings.

This financial mastery underlines the club's ability to operate independently of match results, capitalizing on longstanding assets and effective sponsorship agreements.

Continued Financial Discipline

Real Madrid has managed to keep its operational costs in check while investing heavily in infrastructure and technology. For the financial year 2025-26:

  • Investment in Player Signings: €161 million ($183.5 million).
  • Facilities and Technology Investment: €192 million ($218.9 million).

Moreover, the club reported a solid financial position featuring €624 million ($711.4 million) in equity and €83 million ($94.6 million) in cash, while maintaining negligible net debt aside from financing related to the stadium project.

Impact on the Local Economy

In its efforts to highlight its economic impact, Real Madrid also reported contributing €354.8 million ($404.5 million) to Spanish tax revenue and social security, reinforcing its role as a significant economic entity within the region.

Overall, Real Madrid's financial results not only establish a new benchmark in sports revenue but also set a precedent for other clubs aiming to achieve similar success through sustainable and strategic growth.
