SEWA Launches Initiative to Install Water-Saving Devices in Sharjah Homes

SEWA is installing 750,000 water-saving devices in 45,000 Sharjah homes to promote sustainability and reduce utility costs.

SEWA's Commitment to Water Conservation

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has unveiled a significant water conservation initiative aimed at enhancing sustainability within the Emirate of Sharjah. Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the authority plans to install over 750,000 water-saving devices across more than 45,000 homes.

Objectives of the Initiative

Majid Haremel Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Corporate Support at SEWA, detailed the initiative’s goals, highlighting its importance in promoting environmental sustainability and cultivating a culture of responsible resource consumption among residents. This initiative expands on a previous conservation program which successfully targeted specific demographics, including those benefiting from inflation allowances.

Implementation Mechanisms

Al Shamsi explained that the rollout of these water-saving devices will follow a structured approach, encompassing eight key implementation mechanisms designed to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. The initiative aims not only to conserve water but also to aid residents in reducing their utility bills significantly through the use of modern technologies.

Focus on Future Sustainability

Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of Media and Communication at SEWA, emphasized that this initiative underscores the authority's commitment to preserving water resources while expanding its reach to include more beneficiaries. The innovative water-saving technologies introduced are expected to contribute substantially to the region's sustainability goals, marking a substantial step forward in environmental responsibility within Sharjah.
