Shanghai Me London Celebrates a Year of Success and Global Expansion

Shanghai Me London marks its first anniversary, showcasing a blend of Dubai's luxury dining with Mayfair's vibrant atmosphere.

A Year of Luxury: Shanghai Me London

On July 23, 2026, Shanghai Me London celebrated its first anniversary, establishing itself as a formidable presence in the competitive Mayfair dining scene. Located 28 floors above Park Lane, the restaurant offers stunning views across Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, all while embracing a design reminiscent of 1930s Shanghai.

The Unique Dining Experience

Shanghai Me, owned by Dubai's Fundamental Hospitality, has transformed the former Galvin at Windows into a vibrant space characterized by East Asian cooking and contemporary design. With deep reds and golds, along with late-night cocktails, the venue brings forth the confidence of modern Dubai hospitality, elevating the luxury dining experience in London.

Recognition in the Market
Earlier this year, Time Out recognized Shanghai Me as the best London restaurant with a view, lauding not just its perspective but also the quality of food, exceptional service, and lively atmosphere.

Dubai's Influence in Global Hospitality

Shanghai Me is more than just another successful restaurant; it symbolizes the shifting trends in global hospitality. Traditionally, luxury dining concepts flowed from cities like London and New York to Dubai. However, Fundamental Hospitality has flipped this model. Founded by Evgeny Kuzin and featuring chef Izu Ani, the group has established a strategic framework to build and perfect restaurant concepts in Dubai before introducing them to markets like London.

Bold Expansion Plans

With ambitions for global growth, Fundamental Hospitality is investing $200 million in expansion, targeting to launch approximately 15 restaurants in 2026 across various regions, including the GCC, Europe, and the United States. Last year, their venues welcomed over five million guests, with projections for 2026 suggesting that number could exceed ten million.

The Evening Experience

The focus of Shanghai Me goes beyond just a meal; it aims to create an entire evening experience. Chef Izu Ani’s meticulously crafted menu integrates traditional Chinese and East Asian flavors with a modern twist, catering to a new generation of diners looking for more than just a dinner service. The adjoining Bund Lounge enhances this, offering artisan cocktails and a social space that encourages guests to linger longer and indulge further.

Mayfair’s Transformation

Mayfair and the West End are currently experiencing significant investment and transformation. Initiatives, like the pedestrianization of Oxford Street, aim to make the area more vibrant and suitable for leisure and hospitality. Recognizing that successful retail needs to evolve into an entire experience, restaurant operators are tapping into this shift, making Shanghai Me a notable example of what the future of dining in London may look like.

As Mayfair embraces change, Shanghai Me stands out as a beacon of how luxury dining can adapt to meet contemporary consumer demands, establishing itself as a leader in the global hospitality industry.
