Tilt raises $26 million to enhance its AI-driven auction app competing with TikTok Shop and eBay Live.
Tilt Revolutionizes Online Auctions with $26 Million Funding
Tilt, a groundbreaking live auction app, has made headlines by securing $26 million in funding to enhance its platform and compete with giants such as TikTok Shop and eBay Live. Founded in 2021 by former Revolut employees, Abhi Thanendran and Neil Shah, Tilt aims to streamline the online selling process using advanced artificial intelligence tools.
Enhancing the Selling Experience with AI
The London-based startup, which has raised a total of $50 million to date, claims to provide a seamless selling experience for users by integrating AI throughout its operations. The app enables users to participate in live auctions across various categories including fashion and collectibles, presenting a format that is often described as a modern version of QVC tailored for the social media age.
Utilizing features such as the Snap tool, sellers can create auction listings instantly by simply showcasing their items to the camera. This innovative functionality automates product descriptions and pricing suggestions within seconds, making it easier for sellers to engage in live commerce. "Live commerce is very hard on the seller, and they have to do a lot of things," Thanendran explained. "With the AI technology, we can actually take away a lot of those problems."
Real-Time Support and Discovery Tools
Tilt also incorporates real-time coaching through a feature they describe as a co-pilot, assisting sellers as they navigate their auctions by providing prompts on enhancing their presentation. Additionally, an agentic search function allows buyers to browse for items across various live sessions efficiently. This comprehensive support structure aims to empower anyone to participate in live auctions, regardless of their previous experience or audience size.
Funding and Future Growth Plans
The recent funding round was led by TQ Ventures, with participation from Vinted Ventures and existing investors such as Balderton Capital, Earlybird, and Seedcamp. The influx of capital will primarily be utilized to further develop AI products, enhance discovery features, and support Tilt's expansion into new markets across Europe and the US.
The Future of Live Commerce
As the global live commerce market is projected to grow significantly, Tilt is poised to capitalize on this trend by addressing the challenges currently faced by individuals attempting to sell online without an established following. Thanendran expressed a clear vision for Tilt, stating, "A big part of Tilt is we want to help anybody start from nothing and become superstars."
With a dedicated focus on democratizing online selling, Tilt's innovative approach and robust funding stand to position it as a formidable competitor in the e-commerce landscape.
