Acceptance of Responsibility

In a public statement addressing the situation, Mullinax expressed regret and took full responsibility for his actions. He stated, "I take full responsibility for what happened. At the end of the day, it is my responsibility to understand and follow the PGA Tour's anti-doping policy and all of its rules and regulations."

The 34-year-old golfer explained that he had used medication to treat a long-standing condition without obtaining prior approval, which he acknowledges as a significant oversight on his part. He added, "My lack of knowledge is not an excuse. It was my responsibility to know the rules before taking any medication and I failed to do so."

Commitment to Fair Play

Mullinax emphasized that he never intended to gain a competitive edge through his actions. "Anyone who knows me knows how much I respect this game and the values it represents," he noted, indicating his respect for golf has not diminished despite this setback.

He reflected on the lessons learned from this experience, stating, "I accept the consequences of my actions and will use this experience as a lesson. Golf has given me so much, and I never want one mistake to define the respect I have for the game or for the people who support me."

Mullinax's career has faced challenges recently, particularly following his victory at the Barbasol Championship in 2022. He has been limited in his appearances on the PGA Tour, participating in only two events in 2026 and another on the Korn Ferry Tour, with his last competition occurring at the team-format Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April.
