His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, affirmed during the UN Security Council’s open debate on maritime safety and the protection of sea lanes in the maritime domain.
His Excellency said during the session: “Iran’s practices confirm the need for collective action by the international community to reach a lasting solution that guarantees freedom of navigation and the right of transit passage through the Strait of Hormuz without conditions and in a sustainable manner.”
He added: “Our position on the Strait is firmly grounded in international law. The United Arab Emirates is ready to participate in efforts aimed at ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, and in preserving freedom of navigation and the right of transit passage through it.”
