LA Knight Opens Up On Managing Anger Ahead Of WrestleMania 42
LA Knight discusses managing anger and excitement for WrestleMania 42 as he teams up with The Usos against Logan Paul and others.
LA Knight Talks Anger Management and WrestleMania 42
As LA Knight gears up for the highly anticipated WrestleMania 42, he has opened up about his journey of coping with anger and frustration, which have historically influenced his wrestling career. Rather than channeling negative emotions, Knight is shifting his focus toward optimism and motivation.
Shifting Focus from Frustration to Optimism
Knight, who is known for his instinctive charisma and crowd appeal, has often relied on frustration as a driving force throughout his wrestling journey. Speaking with CBS Sports, he reflected, "Unfortunately, I think I've worked from a point of frustration in my career for a long time... it's been the thing that's driven me."
For Knight, the line between passion and obsession is sometimes blurred. He described the aftermath of matches when he finds himself alone, replaying events in his mind. He noted, "Sometimes you get in that car after having everything happening out in the ring... You start ruminating on everything. It sometimes takes the fun out of it."
The Fight for Recognition
Despite receiving positive reactions from fans, Knight's booking in WWE has not always reflected his popularity. Having faced multiple disappointments, including near-title wins, he has sought to reset his mindset. “I've had to reset myself in different ways because I get very passionate,” he mentioned.
He now emphasizes a mantra that encourages resilience: "We don't get done, we get up.” This attitude helps him seek enjoyment in his performance rather than succumbing to bitterness.
Looking Ahead to WrestleMania 42
Originally rumored to face Brock Lesnar, Knight will instead be part of a six-person match involving The Usos, Logan Paul, and others in what’s expected to be a high-energy kickoff for WrestleMania 42. He explained his initial surprised reaction to the match setup, but acknowledged its potential impact once social media attention began to build.
Knight finds pride in guiding newcomers and setting the tone for their first match, stating, "You're talking about that trust on so many levels... who will set the stage and set the tone for the very first match that we see for this year's WrestleMania?"
Dismissing Backstage Rumors
In the midst of speculation regarding backstage issues, Knight downplayed concerns that he might be in trouble with WWE after a clip of him surfaced during a time he was overshadowed by a push for Jey Uso. Knight laughed off the rumors, affirming, "If there was, I surely was not aware of it. Nobody said a word or anything."
He further brushed aside fan concerns regarding an interrupted promo on Raw, explaining it was merely a communication issue and emphasizing his capability to adapt. "I was a little hot about it first... but somebody just obviously communicated wrong to me."
Embracing Change in Perspectives
Knight is learning to embrace a different perspective in his career, allowing his passion to take a backseat to a more balanced approach. Having spent years striving for a spot that often felt unattainable, he is now taking inventory of his journey and letting go of the anger that once propelled him forward. “Maybe we should have just played off of it,” he concluded, reflecting on how he handles challenges now.
With a renewed mindset heading into WrestleMania, LA Knight aims not only to deliver a memorable performance but also to enjoy the journey as he does so.
